Dear Ecco Customer,

For fifteen years, Ecco Caffe has roasted great coffees for the Bay Area. The vision was small lots, roasted in small batches, and delivered fresh. Ecco quickly grew a reputation for round, balanced and compelling coffees, particularly with its espresso program. Regular trips to origin, especially to Ethiopia and Brazil, resulted in unique offerings that represented the distinct variety of the land where they were grown.

Three years ago, Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea acquired Ecco Caffe. Connected by an uncompromising commitment to transparency, each brand recognized the farm as the source of quality, valuing authenticity and hard work. Ecco Caffe's offerings became complementary to Intelligentsia's, allowing customers to choose coffees from either brand or both. Intelligentsia's buyers purchased small lots from its Direct Trade relationships, securing them for Ecco's offerings.

As of September 17th, Ecco Caffe will no longer operate as a distinct wholesale coffee operation. Ecco Caffe will merge with the Intelligentsia Coffee brand to become The Ecco Project. As an Ecco Caffe customer, your account will transition to Intelligentsia, giving you full access to our larger customer service team, world class training, and marketing support.

The Ecco Project is a step forward: highly distinguished, limited release offerings from the best coffee producers around the world. In the same vein that Intelligentsia's renowned Black Cat Project handles everything espresso related, the Ecco Project is designed to showcase the rare varietal, the auction lot, or the result of an experiment hatched between producers who met at our Extraordinary Coffee Workshop. Ecco Project coffees will also be a platform to introduce new Direct Trade relationships, and highlight producers with whom we're just starting to work.

As an Intelligentsia customer, you will continue to communicate with the same people and serve coffee from the same roaster, but under the Intelligentsia Coffee brand. Customers will still have access to the same quality coffees and roasts that you're familiar with, and we are confident you'll love the additional diverse range of seasonal single origins now available to you.

As an Ecco customer, your support over the years has directly affected the company's development. By valuing quality coffee and brewing it correctly, you have played a vital role in realizing the potential of Ecco Caffe and have contributed to helping many coffee producers gain financial sustainability and success. We are excited to continue working with you to explore the possibilities of truly great coffee.
